Image: On October 15, 2014, Marine Sciences Department postdocs Alexey Vorobev (Moran lab) and Oliver Ding He (Medeiros lab) traveled to the UGA Marine Institute on Sapelo Island to collect samples for an NSF project investigating microbial transformations of organic matter. Coastal seawater is being incubated for 24 hours in the dark and then analyzed for microbial gene expression patterns in the context of changes in the chemical signature of dissolved organic compounds.
