UGA marine scientists at Skidaway took part in a synchronized world-wide sampling effort of ocean microbes during the summer solstice (Jun 21).

Ph.D. candidate Tommy Dornhoffer has been selected to participate in UGA’s Future Faculty Program. This program brings together award-winning teaching assistants from across campus to prepare them for their future jobs in academia.

Sixteen scientists took part in a Georgia Coastal Ecosystem LTER cruise aboard the R/V Savannah during late July, directed by chief scientist Dr.

Brandon Satinsky, a PhD student working with Dr. Mary Ann Moran recently published a paper in PNAS titled "Microspatial gene expression patterns in the Amazon River Plume".

Sylvia Schaefer successfully defended her Ph.D. research on the sources and fate of coastal nitrogen on June 23. Dr. Schaefer’s talk was entitled “Controls on Nitrogen Inputs, Loads, and In-Stream Concentrations in the Altamaha River, Georgia, and Beyond.”
